Dialogue with faith,dialogue with tradition,and look for the most real power in inner heart
With Southwest Jiaotong University students’zealous anticipation ,the Faith Age Show,the performance of traditional culture was held in the Xipu Campus of this university’s Association of student activity center at 7pm,on May 15th.Chinese culture with a 5000 year-long history long and consistent,on the day of May 15th,2014,the 118th anniversary of Jiaotong University’s birth,students in SWJT University made a complete display of the colorful and rich Chinese culture using Faith Age Show as a carrier.
The Faith Age traditional culture performance continued the tradition from the previous two sessions,four teams respectively representing the 70,80,90,00 generations composed of invited guests competed in the knowledge and abilities.The guest lineup of this year can’t be underestimated.Director of Construction Department of Arts and School archives curator,Zhang Xueyong and the chairperson of Students Union of College of Materials,Han Dengquan made for the team representing the 70th generation.The team representing the 80th generation was composed of “Airline stewardess”Miss Tang Lijuan and the chairperson of Students’Union of Mechanical College.Miss Song Meihua,with a title of the most beautiful woman teacher in Foreign Language College and Kong Weiqi ,the popular participant of I Music represented the 90th generation .Chen Chen,the chairperson of Public Administration College and Wang Zhaoguang,President of WuShu Association represented the 00 generation.This performance greatly captured students’attention and the zealous atmosphere was ignited and lifted immediately all kinds of costumes were displayed at the opening.
The first link of the performance “lute-playing, chess, calligraphy, and painting”injected fresh energy into the Show.Kong Weiqi and Chen Chen brought a new version of the famous song blue and white porcelain combined with English and Chinese,reaching a good blending between traditional culture and modern pop culture.The questions of this round involved knowledge about blue and white porcelain, the famous Chinese painting Imperial Carriage (drawn by Yan Liben,a famous artist in Tang Dynasty),Book Collections of the Ancient and Present Times and Knowledge about classical music,which made me reflect on the history.The specially set part “Listen to Xueyong.Zhang say”,reflecting the time-covered history of twenty years.
“The Shinny Starlight”,the second part showed the charm of traditional culture.Miss Tang Lijuan danced with the beautiful melody of the classical song Jasmine Flower,a feather fan in her hand,like bran-new blooms of white jasmine.Suddenly,the music was transformed to modern dynamic version of Jasmine Flower,,and the president of Street Dance Association interpreted the modern meaning with popping dance.The Mongolian song Three Prosperity Gems played by the three chairpersons brought a lot of fun and different versions of the beauty trap in the War between Wu and Yue performed by the actors led to the audience’s laughters and applause.
The third part was named Lofty Mountains and Flowing Water ,so the famous melody cooperated by Yu Boya and Zhong Ziqi was a must.The students from the Students Union reproduced the situation of concerted ancient music,attracting the audience’s strings of applause.Later on the questions about the scenery behind RMB were very interesting.Miss Song Meihua recited the English version of Stray Birds.Her warm voice made people quietly enjoy the feeling like Summer’s sunshine.
In the part of “Generation to Generation”,traditional festivals,traditional wedding and traditional Imperial examination were combined together .According to a piece of cross talk ,a brainstorm of memorizing the names of dishes in a minute were held among the participants .With the powerful music of Chinese People,Wang Zhaoguang displayed a fascinating performance of Chinese Kungfu,which was very impressive.The representatives of 00 generation reproduced the process of making a Oil-paper umbrella.Then the 90th representatives took the upper hand in the score of 16 votes.
In the final sector ‘I like to memorize poems’,the representatives of the 90th generation still kept its momentum.They got another two scores and won the final victory.As a grand feast paying tribute to Chinese nation’s traditional culture,a lesson retreating the relationship between traditional culture and modern culture,a dialogue between people in our college and the inner faith and tradition,the third season of Faith Age Show about Chinese traditional culture was ended completely and successfully.But the traditional culture’s spreading and development with the spirit promoted by our college will still continue and echo in everyone of our college’s heart.
